Autumn Florals

This post is soo overdue but I've been super busy recently as i'm currently in Ipswich visiting family. Sorry!! The weather is getting slightly gross (not a huge fan of the damp and cold) and it's getting darker in the days so I thought i'd use today as one of my last chances to go bare legged before going away at christmas. Cosy florals was my overall ensemble today; whilst still attempting to pull off the in-between seasons look.

I chose a mix of pastel pinks and charcoal to give that autumn feel. By layering a cropped jumper over a strappy cami dress the outfit was cut into perfect proportions of top, skirt and leg; I didn't want to make my legs look too short as I wore socks under my shoes.

My fabuleuse jumper from H&M has to be one of my faves as it is really snug but doesn't itch like some jumpers can. The sleeves are slightly too long so I tend to roll them up a bit - this adds a nice touch. And the hem is loose so hangs really nicely over anything. In winter this style jumper looks fab with high waisted jeans or a knitted/ leather skirt.

Floral has always been one of my favourite trends as it is constantly reinvented. This year has seen a lot of watercolour style florals, including this Miss Selfridge dress. When I bought the dress it was actually suggested for festivals, however it is great for any season as it can be layered with knitted or black tights and a long sleeved top underneath when it gets colder.

This coat has to be the best AW coat I have ever purchased! It's a wool blend lined with a satiny fabric. I love the length as it comes to about half way down my bum and doesn't feel restrictive or too short. The photos make it look more pink than it actually is; its more of a pale blush colour - super easy to match with anything.

I risked strappy shoes instead of boots today, they helped to elongate my legs and they are less chunky than my cut out boots. Usually I wouldn't wear socks with these shoes but sheer ankle socks actually look quite pretty (especially with the shimmer). The petal design matched my dress quite well, but even plain sheer socks could look really nice if recreating this look. Just be careful with sheer socks as they can ladder really easily!

If pink isn't your colour you can easily recreate this look using different coloured florals/ garments. I reckon this would also look fab with a slick topknot on a night out (ditch the coat and jumper obviously). And for makeup I would do a smokey eye and keep a pale lip colour.
Accessory wise a black or white bag would look best with these colours to avoid an overload of pink, or you could pick out a colour from one of the flowers to match accessories with.

Guest Post The Coral Diaries

Dressed as a St Trinian

Outfit Details

Jumper - H&M
Duster Coat - TKMAXX
Knee Socks - H&M
Shoes - Primark
Necklace - Primark

So a little bit about me... My names Coral Francis Baker I'm a new fashion blogger and would say my style is very versatile. My favourite colour is pink SHOCK! favourite trend at the moment is tartan and was exactly the same last year when the trend took over most high street stores. I'm currently studying in Birmingham City University fashion business and promotion. The one perk of being a student is the night life and my student loan which is currently being spent on clothes and food like they typical student.

So on to the outfit... what can I say except how I love the slouchy knit and pleated skort combo. But yes it is very St Trinians-esque. The skirt was an amazing sale find in River Island for £10.00 however online its actually £7.00! how cheeky is that! Anyway if you know me you know how I love knee socks especially at winter, I do love over the knee boots but they don't love my skinny legs so socks are the second best thing right. The outfit itself is very monochrome with a pop of pink in my hair, bag and skort, ive tried to keep the main attention of my outfit on the skirt so tried to bring out all the colours from it.

Zara TRF - Fashion facts

OOTD 100%; this TRF tee is perfect for those lazy days. By letting everyone know your look is on point (with the totally un-subtle reminders) this chic Zara pick makes any day a catwalk day.

Being so easy to match with anything is what I love about Zara's Trafaluc top. Simple was the image I went for today, with small details to complete the overall ensemble. Silver jewels match perfectly with the grey background whilst adding a little glitz to the outfit. I actually used some stretchy bracelets as arm cuffs due to the shorter sleeves of the top and to balance the length of the skort.

The asymmetric hemline makes the skort less plain and fab to wear during the day or on a night out. There are loads similar in different stores so you can shop around for the best finish to compliment you're shape if you're not a fan of this hem.

Sheer socks look super cute with heeled sandals, and I love the heart design of this pair. If you're not a big fan of showing off your feet this is a great solution to still wear this style shoe without everyone seeing your toes. Frilly socks are also an option for these shoes as the frills hang over the top buckle and are available in tons of colours if you want to match them to other accessories/ garments!

An alternative styling option for the tee could be a midi skirt; tuck the t-shirt in loosely and match jewellry to colours in the skirt.

2nd way to wear - Topshop's lurex crop tee

As the cold weather has started to flurry in I've began to layer summer styles into AW looks. My new statement is my lurex crop from Topshop in black (shimmery silver), I've been styling it with skirts and jeans recently; but as rain was due I decided to match it with this silky jumpsuit from last year.

The muted tones in the jumpsuit are easy to put with any other colours, and can be layered with different sleeve-length tops weather depending. As per usual I went minimal with accessories, although an arm cuff or multiple rings could have worked well with this style. An alternative to layering the jumpsuit could be jeans and a bralet; low waisted jeans would be more casual, and a lace bralet would contrast the texture of the cropped tee.

I also tend to wear socks with my cut out boots if not wearing tights, for this outfit I matched my socks to the top, they stood out from the boots without being distracting/ overly noticeable.

Perfectly abandoned

For today's outfit I went for monochrome colours with a Clueless edge. I chose some warmer knits for this on-off weather; whilst going for a cropped t-shirt and skort for an end of summer look. Everyone has been wearing Topshop's cropped t-shirts recently, however I fell for this sparkly number that perfectly embraces the approach of the festive season. It has a high neck which makes it great for the cold weather, especially if matching it with jeans or trousers.

My dogtooth skort is one of my favourite pieces atm because it is super diverse and matches with almost anything. I love clashing prints so would definitely match this with a patterned/ statement top. Of course I also had to wear my cut out boots - they are absolutely fab for this weather and lengthen your legs.

I tend to go pretty bare with accessories; however you could easily match this with a holographic/metallic clutch or shoes. But if you can't live without colour pick the same shade of one colour for all accessories in order to not make it too busy.

All garments including sunglasses from Topshop.
