Benefit review - Hoola and Watt's up!

Being super pale, I have always struggled to find a good bronzer which doesn't look orange or unnatural. When I discovered Benefit had a matte bronzer with no shimmer - Hoola, I honestly thought it would look ridiculous - however once going to my local Benefit counter I was quickly informed that you can build it up to whatever tone you like! By applying to your cheekbones, across your chin and along your forehead you can contour your face perfectly and embrace the best shade for your skin tone by applying as much or as little as you wish.

At £23.50 this is definitely the best bronzer for anyone who doesn't like the shimmery look bronzers which are available, and it will last you ages!
I also purchased their Watt's Up! highlighter which matches hoola in terms of shade. It's super creamy and can be applied on your cheekbones (on top of hoola), down your nose and under your eyebrows to create a lift ilusion.

Watt's up comes with a blending sponge which helps to get rid of any sharp lines - if you are unsure how to use it, the women on the Benefit counter can show you how to apply the highlighter properly. Since switching from bronzing pearls to Benefit's Hoola and highlighter I definitely couldn't switch back!

I would 100% recommend both of these products to anyone who struggles with orange bronzers, or anyone who doesn't know how to correctly contour and highlight. High contrast

Currently my favorite collection at work is High Contrast; a selection of fur coats, stunning midi dresses and plenty of pencil skirts. Perfect for AW14, this collection is beyond compare for the cold upcoming months. White/cream, black and burgundy are the key colours for this trend, plus statement jewelry and shoes complete each look effortlessly.

Fur coat, top & skirt: All Jane Norman

Today I styled this look to show that anyone can wear leather look and mix textures. The black skirt compliments any figure as it is slimming and the shape elongates your legs, the white top is actually from our work wear collection, but pairs so well with the skirt in order to create shape on top; the shape allow you to hide any lumps the skirt may not. Obviously I had to choose the burgundy fur coat - it is absolutely stunning and a great length to match with any outfit, it can be fastened to keep you warm or simply worn how it is styled to add another element to your outfit.

Necklace: H&M

Gold utterly adulates this look, especially as this necklace is multi-layered, adding dimension. A simpler option could be worn, however I think this finishes the ensemble so well.

An ideal outfit to take you right from work to dinner or a night out, I think this is so diverse and could be worn for multiple occasions.

Shop the collection now either instore at Newport (Isle of Wight), at some House of Frasers or online at janenorman.co.uk - Currently 25% off all full price online.

First post - Solent uni open day & new purchases

As this is my first post I guess I should introduce myself; I'm Lauren, I live on the Isle of Wight and am an A2 student & sales assistant at Jane Norman.
Here is where I will post snippets of my life, clothes, beauty products, makeup looks etc.

Today I attended my first uni open day at Southampton Solent -  I already knew this would be my first choice, however today I finally got to meet present students and visit the accommodation. I am applying to study either fashion styling, makeup and hair design or beauty promotion, which are all under the same umbrella in terms of fashion courses at Solent.
I was super unsure of how to present myself as I wanted to be memorable but show my potential at the same time, in order to do this I chose to wear one of my favorite autumn transition looks for this strange summer/autumn weather we have going on.
Dress: Miss Selfridge, Jumper: Topshop, Shoes: Topshop, Socks: Asos
I also wore a pale pink wool blend coat from H&M which is currently available at £49.99.

After finishing the presentations I wanted to attend at the uni I ended up in my usual habitat - Topshop, and spending wayy too much money. I completely adore this monochrome bralet I managed to pick up at a reasonable price, it is absolutely ideal for the upcoming christmas period. I would pair it with a pair of black or white jeans (high-waisted skinnies/ mom) or even a skort. By adding a pop of colour on your lips or eyes and nails this will be one of my fave looks this AW.

I also managed to pick up this floral beauty in Miss Selfridge, which is quickly becoming one of my new places to shop.

There is currently 20% student discount when presenting relevant student ID, this made it even more of a bargain at only £9.60 - would 100% recommend!

I hope my first post hasn't dragged on too much, will update again tomorrow at some point. If you have any suggestions please contact me at lauren.saltonstall@gmail.com :)
